Repairs
This project is a contribution to the International Birding & Research Center, NGO#58016900. The Center was established on an abandoned garbage dump in Eilat and provides a resting place for the hundreds of millions of migratory birds which pass through this region twice annually on their way from Europe to Africa.

While the Center’s primary function is ecological, namely, the restoration of the salt marsh habitat that is critical as the birds replenish themselves after the long flight over the Sahara and the Red Sea, it also has an important educational and tourist function. Its trails have attracted bird watchers from all over the world who come to Eilat to observe the many species of birds who regularly pass through this flyway.

There is a handicapped accessible trail, the Bausch Trail, which was built near Eilat for the purpose of observing the migrations. The trail is particularly appealing to handicapped tourists, since there are truly very few attractions in Israel to engage wheelchair-bound persons.
In February, 2006, a flash flood from Saudi Arabia overran this trail and the area was inundated by floodwaters which completely destroyed the walkway.
The Tal Fund has contributed money for the repair and the replacement of the damaged path, and it is hoped that tourists, both handicapped and not, will be soon able to have a comfortable place in which to watch this spectacular migration again.
